Why Clean Burning Candles Make a Difference

Many standard candles are made from paraffin wax, a petroleum byproduct that can release chemicals like toluene and benzene when burned. Some of these chemicals are known to contribute to indoor air pollution that can irritate sensitive respiratory systems and are not ideal for long-term health. I hadn't realized that those cozy evenings spent with the wrong type of candles could mean inhaling undesirable pollutants. This thought gave me pause and sent me searching for alternatives.

Switching to clean-burning candles was a simple way to elevate our candle experience and improve indoor air quality. Soy wax is a vegetable-based wax made from the oil of soybeans. It burns slower than paraffin, which means the candle will last longer. They are also biodegradable, and if the wax spills, it's very easy to clean up.

What are they and why are they different?

Most candles are forgettable. You burn them, they disappear, and no one notices they were ever there. Sculptural candles, however, are different. They are the kind of candles that people immediately ask about when they enter a room.

How are they made?
The process begins with pure soy wax, melted in small batches and then colored or scented. It is poured into specially prepared molds, and after the setting time is complete, it is carefully removed from the mold and cleaned through a delicate process. The entire process for a single piece can take several hours. Therefore, each candle can be sculpturally different from the others.

The human hand cannot perfectly replicate this, and that is the point. Many of the sculptural models at Saade Atölyesi are designed by us personally.

Studio-Level Detailing
All Atelier Saadé candles are carefully hand-poured in Turkey. Each piece is produced in small batches with a focus on quality and detail. They are non-toxic. They are handcrafted using the highest quality, certified pure soy wax (All Seasons Wax). They do not contain petroleum-derived paraffin to ensure a clean burn.

Vegetable-based waxes are a natural product and therefore undergo normal and natural changes over time and with environmental influences (such as yellowing or small condensation spots on the wax). These changes are normal; they do not affect the quality or performance of the candles.
